FAW / Trust COVID-19 UPDATE
Further to our communication on Friday, we would like to update you on the return of outdoor organised children’s activities from 27th March if the public health conditions continue to be favorable.
On Monday, the FAW and FAW Trust met with representatives from Welsh Government, Welsh Sports Association, Sport Wales and other National Governing Bodies to seek clarification on a number of issues that will affect protocols for the return of football activity. Disappointingly, Welsh Government are still to clarify the following issues which would enable us to produce clear guidance to our football family:
Number of children U18 that can participate in outdoor organised activity
Whether players who have turned 18 this season can participate in outdoor organised activity
Travel restrictions to and from England
Until we receive clarity on the these issues, we are unable to update and share our Return to Play protocols. Welsh Government have not given an indication of when these issues will be clarified, however we continue to lobby for this to be clarified quickly to allow enough time for everyone to prepare for a safe return to football activity.
We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. We recognise this is an extremely frustrating period but, as before, we have to be led by Welsh Government Guidance to support the return of football.
