Become a Football Referee

These courses, written by experts at the Football Association of Wales, will up skill you in all areas of the laws of the game ensuring that you are fully supported along the way.

You can take the course at a time and a place that suits you so it’ll fit around your busy lifestyle.

The online course runs 365 days a year, so you’re only ever a click away from becoming an FAW Referee. Once you’ve purchased the course you’ll be given the opportunity to choose a final face to face session in your area.

The West Wales FA are pleased to announce the following refunds of course fees to anyone who enrols and completes either the:

1) REFEREE LEADERS’ AWARD course (£15)

Full refund of £15 once the new referee completes 6 matches on Comet (league or cup matches)
The FAW basic fully qualified Referees course (No referees Kit) (£25)
Full refund of £25 once the new referee has refereed for 3 months from the date of the first match and completes a minimum 6 matches on Comet (league or cup matches)

2) The FAW Advanced Referee Award The core FAW online refereeing course, become fully qualified. (£70)

Full refund of £70 once the new referee has refereed for 6 months from the date of the first match and completes a minimum 15 matches on Comet (league or cup matches)
The new referees postal address must be within the West Wales FA (WWFA) area and all the matches must be within the WWFA affiliated competitions.

Work your way through the 17 Laws of the Game by watching real life scenarios, answering quizzes and taking part in discussions.

After you’ve completed the 5 sections you’ll be given the opportunity to showcase your knowledge by taking part in an exam.

Once you’ve passed that you’ll be invited to a local centre for a final face to face session, here you’ll meet your local area refereeing representatives and have the chance to ask any pressing questions. You’ll need to attend this session to qualify as a referee so attendance is key.
